Update from the President
Fall 2008

Dear Reining Enthusiast,

Thank you for your interest in the Arabian Reining Horse Association. We welcome your interest and also ask you to visit our website at www.ARHA.net.

Formed in 1999, the Arabian Reining Horse Association is an affiliate club of both the Arabian Horse Association and the National Reining Horse Association. ARHA is dedicated to the highest standards of sportsmanship, to breeding the highest quality of Reiners and to the promotion and enjoyment of the sport of reining in the Arabian and Half-Arabian breeds.

The Arabian and Half-Arabian Reining Futurity Classics at Scottsdale debuted in 2005 with the Half-Arab class and purebred class added in 2006. The classes are NRHA approved with 5 NRHA judges. The projected payout is $130,000. Futurity entry deadline for 2009 is December 1, 2008.

New for Scottsdale 2009 futurity classes is the LIMITED FUTURITY, which will run concurrently with the futurity classic. Details are on the ARHA web site and also in this packet.

The Non-Pro Derby with its inauguration at the 2008 Scottsdale Show is designed for the 6, 7 and 8 year old reiner – both purebred and Half-Arab. For full details consult the Arabian / Half-Arabian Reining Horse Non Pro Derby Classic Scottsdale, AZ Terms and Conditions in this membership packet.

Prize money is given in the AOTR reining classes at the region shows. $1000 is available at each region for the two classes – purebred and Half-Arab. $500 for each class; Champion $250, Reserve $100, Top 5 $50 each.

To be eligible to win any of the above prize monies, both the rider and the owner must be members of the Arabian Reining Horse Association. This includes the futurity classes.

With your membership and support we can continue to offer substantial purses and encourage participation in Arabian and Half-Arabian reining competition throughout the country.

If I can be of any service to you, please contact me.

Best Regards,

Update from the President
September 2008

Tulsa, here we come
Are you ready?
The coffee is ready

Morning coffee will again be at the reining arena for you early birds. Coffee is provided by Markel and ARHA board member Deb Witty.

Join us for the 10th annual general meeting to be held Monday, October 20, at 6 p.m. at the reining arena. Yes, ARHA is now 10 years old. (Sometimes it seems like 100 years to me.) This is your organization and I look forward to your presence at the meeting. Hors d’oeuvres will be served and we will also be giving out ARHA caps.

Advertising space in the 2008 ARHA National program is still available at this date. Material must be at the printer by September 15. Contact Phyllis LaMalfa, Phyllis@azcashtitle.com, 480-513-4040, or myself, h.hamilton@microcontrol.com, 763-786-8750, for information.

And, on this advertising vein, it is not too early to plan your advertising for the Scottsdale 2009 ARHA program.

The ARHA will have a booth at Nationals which will be located near the reining arena.

The ARHA stallion silent auction will take place at the ARHA booth in Tulsa. Board member April Sampson has an impressive array of Arab and Quarter stallions to bid on. Proceeds will go into the futurities.

ARHA will again be providing additional prizes for the national reining champions. Sandy Woerle is coordinating the awards/monies. Please contact Sandy with your support at SWOERLE@uwsuper.edu.

Marketing of youngsters has always been a concern to your board. Deb Witty and Mary Jane Brown have presented an idea/plan for a prospect sale horse listing at Scottsdale. The enclosed letter and application cover all aspects of this program.
